- Cameron's mini-introduction (4 wks) to pre-school went as well as we all hoped. He impressed all his new teachers, as expected. (They are extremely appreciative of any and all previous interventions.) He learned all the daily school routines in no time, and has made an easy adjustment to his new schedule.
- He's REALLY into the copy-cat stage of the TYPICAL 3 yr old. (I'm really starting to love that word!) Revin loves the fact that he will fallow and imitate her for as long as she wants. It's cute most of the time. The other day, he was outside with Shelby(our dog) watching her drink from her water bowl...two seconds later, there he was...on his hand and knees with his face in the bowl...yuk! His overall imitations are about 75% physical and 25% verbal. His verbal skills are improving, but slowly. (I can't help but wonder how much more he would be talking if he was still receiving 25hr/wk 1:1 ABA therapy.) He's babbling as much as ever, and saying... "up" clearly at least 50%, and the other 50% he's making a gallant effort to say it. "one" is another word that he can say clearly 50%, and the other 50% is how he first pronounced it two months ago "o-wa". "mama" is another word that he can say clearly...if he wants to! I have to beg sometimes to get him to say it...I know...he's got me wrapped around his little finger! I want... is still "I" and "wah" (but are getting clearer everyday) and are fallowed by a close approximation of what's being requested such as "uice" for juice or "vee" "et" for V-8. Most of all of his other words he is at least approximating the first syllable.
- As far as his behaviors...it's still the hand/face swipe or (with Revin)the "full head-lock/take down" combo. So, when he's acting out we all try to remind him to 'keep your hands to yourself', and while holding his hands down we have introduced the concept of "Quiet Hands" which is keeping his hands down or folded together. On those occasions that he still does not want to cooperate he is given the dreaded "Time out". It is my belief that it is just him showing his frustrations because he lacks the ability to verbally communicate his wants. My hope is that these behaviors will diminish once he becomes more verbal.
- Baths are still a little bit of a challenge. We haven't progressed past -standing naked in the tub while playing with cups of water for approximately 30 to 60seconds, repeated about 3x or 4x per "bath". No worries though, summertime is here Hooray! It's amazing... if the sprinklers are on or there's water in the wading pool...then, he is ALL in, clothes and all (even socks and shoes)! Even after I strip him down, he can't get enough of outside water play...Go figure?
- Cameron is also reaching some of his 3yr old milestones, and it is actually while he's 3yrs old..wow! Wahoo here's that word again....TYPICAL!
-He is becoming very social with the people that he's familiar with.
-He is taking steps on the stairs with alternating feet.
-He pedals his bike independently(on the downward slopes).

-He is blowing bubbles...non-stop, he loves making them.
-He drew his first smiley faces a few days ago(aren't they cute).

-He is fully cooperating with diaper time. He lays or stands where and when he's told(without
squirming), afterwards he throws his old diaper away, and then washes his hands.
Also, he has decided that he likes holding hands, so I rarely ever carry him any more(lucky me). It's just at the TYPICAL times now... -putting him to bed at night, or for safety reasons, or when he's going in a direction that I don't want him to go!
- Summer school starts on Monday, and Cameron will be riding on the school bus for the first time...it's making me nervous, but I'm hoping all goes well. He will probably love it, for some reason the things that I stress-out the most on, end up affecting him the least. I'm going to try to make updated posts at least once a month(if not more) to keep you all informed. But...if I lag, feel free to remind me, please!
